Barry County Democrats Scholarship
How to help our local students:
We created a $500 scholarship specifically for students of Barry County. The scholarship award will be decided in a completely nonpartisan way and is open to any student who plans to continue their education after high school. It is a fact that higher educated citizens typically vote for Democrat legislators and good governance starts locally. Students and citizens of Barry County need to know that Democrats are here and we care.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to a Barry County student attending a post-secondary school, with the goal of improving citizenship, fostering understanding of our government, and increasing knowledge of the political process.
Amount: Two $500.00 awards for the 2024-25 academic year to a public high school student in Barry County.
Eligibility: Any student graduating from a high school in Barry County may apply. Applications will be judged on community involvement, academic achievement, and a required essay. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours or more) at an accredited college, university, or other post-secondary school.
Selection Committee: Members of the Barry County Democrats Scholarship Committee.
Selection Process: Scholarship applications will be available from the counselor’s office and should be returned to that office. The counselor’s office will provide copies of the applications to the selection committee.
Notification of Recipient: The recipient will be recognized at the awards ceremony of the high school where he or she attends. The selection committee will notify the recipient of the award and send an award letter with instructions for receiving the funds.
Distribution of Funds: When required documentation of enrollment is received, payment will be made to the recipient’s college account. If the recipient withdraws from school, any unused funds will be returned to the Barry County Democrats Scholarship Fund to the next year.
